Paul Strand & the Photo Secessionists
The prelude to Paul Strand's iconic photography was a group of passionate photographers associated with the Photo Secession. This installation features an important Strand photograph of his wife Rebecca alongside the work of Strand's teachers and peers. As a context for Strand's emergence as a young photographer in early 20th century are photogravures by Alfred Stieglitz, Clarence White, Frank Eugene, Baron Adolf de Meyer, Alice Boughton, Annie W. Brigman, and William B. Dyer. On view through March 28.
