City of Palm Springs Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Spring 20-hour Academy
Have you ever wondered what you can do to better prepare yourself and your family after a disaster. Do you want to know how you can help the community you live in after a disaster. Well, these questions and many more will be answered during the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) 20-hour training on February 1, 2019 from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.,February 2, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and February 2, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Attendance at all three days is required for a certificate of completion. CERT training provides training in the following skills: Unit 1: Disaster Preparedness- 72 hour kit, important documents, overview of Citizen Corps Programs Unit 2: Fire Suppression and Overview of hazards of chemicals in the home Unit 3 and 4: Disaster Medical Skills- triage, treatment area, head to toe assessment, splinting Unit 5: Cribbing, Search Methods, and Types of Damage Unit 6: Team Organization-overview of the Incident Command System (ICS) Unit 7: Disaster Psychology Unit 8: Overview of Terrorism Unit 9: Disaster Simulation- putting all the skills together **Cancelations are accepted until January 14, 2019.** ***The City of Palm Springs is committed to ensuring that its programs are fully accessible to and usable by persons with access and functional needs.
