“Honoring Our Past, Envisioning Our Future”
Brothers of the Desert is conducting our 5th annual wellness summit focusing on Black gay men and our allies in the Coachella Valley and beyond in-person on Saturday, November 11th, 2023 at Margaritaville Resort in Palm Springs from 8:30 AM-4:30 PM. Reaching this 5 year milestone is incredible and we plan to make this the best summit yet!
It is important for us in this moment to reflect on the lessons we have learned from the past and use them to create a vision for a healthier future. “Honoring Our Past, Envisioning Our Future” is the theme of the summit. Join us as we offer the opportunity to learn from a diverse group of health and wellness experts. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The one-day event features innovative workshops, and inspiring keynote presentations on a range of topics, such as spirituality, relationships, mental health, aging considerations, racism, physical health, history and ancestry, healthy sex, financial literacy and embracing advocacy in service of supporting our overall health.
The keynotes speakers for 2023 include amfAR policy director, Greg Millett, Bishop Yvette Flunder, Representative Malcolm Kenyatta and Emmy nominated director, Nathan Hale-Williams who will also serve as host.
Worskshop presenters include, author Dante King, national public health expert, Dr. Sheldon Fields, mental health director Dr. Curley Bonds, global rights activist, Michael Ighodaro, financial planner, Kay Bonadie, social entrepeneur, Dr. Donta Morrison, leadership coach, Donnie Hill, sexual health expert, Dr. Alex Del Rosario, facilitator, Trey Wilson, organizational leader, Dr. Aunsha Hall-Everrett and panels featuring Ron Oden, Assemblyman Dr. Corey Jackson, Perry Lang, Martin Mitchell, Alvis Ward Jr. , and Stuart Huggins.
The summit begins with a meet-and-greet at 8:30 AM and the program starting promptly at 9:00 AM. Participants will be able to choose to attend concurrent workshops at three different times during the day and meet and connect with new people. Lunch will be provided, along with raffle prizes and entertainment. Space is limited, and registration is required. A donation of $25 is suggested and any amount given will be accepted.
Whether this will be your first summit or your fifth, we welcome you and look forward to having you join us!
