City of Indio’s 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony and Memorial Groundbreaking

The City of Indio invites all community members to gather in remembrance of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. This ceremony will pay tribute to the lives lost, while honoring the courage and sacrifice of the first responders and military personnel who continue to protect our nation.

Immediately following the remembrance, the City will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Indio 9/11 Memorial — a lasting tribute featuring a striking 12-foot-tall steel artifact from the former World Trade Center. This memorial will stand as a powerful symbol of our shared humanity, offering a space for reflection, education, and connection.

We welcome residents, visitors, and neighboring communities to stand with us on this day of remembrance, resilience, and hope.
