ORANGERIE Fine Art presents THE CALIFORNIA IMAGE: Beyond the Commercial Frame

ORANGERIE Fine Art, Palm Springs, invites you to the May 6 – 8 opening nights of The California Image: Beyond the Commercial Frame, a new group exhibition exploring how artists shaped by advertising, celebrity portraiture, and graphic design transform those visual languages into independent artistic practice.

The exhibition brings together works by Greg Gorman, Gary Johns, Huntley Muir, and Rex Ray (1958–2015), alongside selected historical works by Charles Green Shaw, John Grillo, and Jack Early. Spanning portraiture, collage, and design-driven abstraction, the show reflects California’s enduring role as a center of image-making—where art, commerce, and cultural identity intersect.

A highlight of the exhibition is a platinum print of Andy Warhol (Los Angeles, 1986) by Greg Gorman, presented as a signed and editioned work  of 2/15.
