Get ready for a wellness revolution with Brothers of the Desert’s speaker series on Saturday, November 9th. Join us for a morning of invigorating discussion and nutritious insight, featuring keynote speaker Dr. Leo Moore and his presentation, REAL Talk, REAL Health.

We kickstart the day with a meet-and-greet at 9:00 AM, followed by the start of the main program at 9:30 AM sharp. Dive into an open forum with the editor-in-chief of IconCityNews, Anye Elite, as he hosts an interactive Q&A session with Private Chef Betty Berrysmith and exercise guru Chad String. Gain vital tips on adopting a healthier lifestyle through food and exercise, and get your burning questions answered by the experts.

Next, feast your mind on Dr. Leo Moore’s special presentation, REAL TALK, REAL HEALTH. This wellness summit preview promises to be an essential guide for those committed to living a healthier life.

But that’s not all. Mix and mingle with like-minded individuals as you savour our selection of coffee, juice, and pastries, all on us. Remember, this event is free, but spaces are limited, so ensure you register in time.

About Dr. Leo Moore:

Leo Moore MD, MSHPM is a dedicated internal medicine, HIV medicine, and lifestyle medicine physician. He currently serves as a Medical Director for Clinic Services at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. In his practice, Dr. Moore provides essential services, such as STD screening and treatment, HIV prevention, and Tuberculosis care. He graduated from the Morehouse School of Medicine, where he honed his passion for patient care and health equity. He is also a passionate health advocate, educator, and coach.

Dr. Moore’s academic journey continued with a Primary Care Internal Medicine residency at Yale University School of Medicine. He also completed a Master of Science in Health Policy and Management at the University of California, Los Angeles, through the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program, cementing his expertise in health policy. Dr. Moore also recently completed a board certification in HIV medicine as an “HIV expert” through the American Academy of HIV Medicine.

As a thought leader, Dr. Moore is unrelenting in his mission to end the HIV epidemic and address health disparities, particularly in Black, Latinx, and other underserved communities. His impactful contributions to the field have led to numerous invitations to speak at conferences and advise governmental agencies, including the United States Conference on AIDS, the CDC HIV Prevention Conference, and the National Coalition of STD Directors.

In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Dr. Moore was recently named one of the inaugural “Top 10 Under 40” by the Morehouse School of Medicine’s Office of Alumni and Constituent Engagement. He was also named to POZ magazine’s “POZ 100” which recognizes advocates in the HIV field. His groundbreaking work in the field was also featured in HIV Plus magazine, highlighting his pioneering efforts in changing perceptions of PrEP in Black gay and bisexual men.

Dr. Moore’s dedication to public health reached a new milestone as he was sworn in as a member of the prestigious United States Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS (PACHA) which reports to the Assistant Secretary of Health at the Department of Health and Human Services, Dr. Rachel Levine. Dr. Moore was also recently appointed as a co-chair for the Stigma and Disparities subcommittee of PACHA. His influential voice and commitment to change make him a pivotal figure in shaping healthcare policy and practice.

Dr. Moore was recently named Men’s Health Magazine’s 2024 Ultimate Guy, a competition that highlights men who exemplify physical, mental, and emotional health while making an impact in their community.

With an impressive track record, a commitment to change, and a relentless passion for health equity, Dr. Leo Moore continues to be a leading force in the field of public health, making a profound difference in the lives of individuals and communities alike.

B’s Table specializes in California Soul (CaliSoul) cuisine, which is food rooted in black southern traditions of her ancestors. Age-old recipes are expanded and reinvented using California fresh produce and ingredients and includes plant-based and gluten free options.

Betty is passionate about all aspects of food. She loves food-styling, organic gardening, reading, writing, and talking about food.

Seafood, Chicken & Sausage Gumbo is the signature dish at B’s Table. A Roasted Vegetable version is also available as a plant-based option. Baking is part of Betty’s passion and her Ginger Shortbread cookies, Sweet Potato Cookies, Coconut Cake with Pineapple Filling and Buttermilk Cake with Rum-Caramel Glaze are frequently sought after desserts.

Betty graduated from Los Angeles Trade Technical College with a Culinary Arts degree and has studied at Culinary Institute of America, Le Cordon Bleu and UCLA.

She loves to travel; Italy and Spain have been her most enjoyable travel destinations to date.

Betty currently resides in La Quinta with her wife of 12 years, Teri.

About String:

String is native born and raised from Las Vegas, he has been in the fitness game for 15 years, his journey in fitness and wellness began back in 2010 when he became an instructor for the up and coming fitness brand SoulCycle, New York City’s premiere indoor cycling studio.

After almost 7 years with SoulCycle String decided to take a opportunity and jump overseas to teach for China’s first indoor cycling studio in Shanghai, China where he taught for a year and a half, he then went to the U.A.E, for another year and a half where he taught indoor cycling, boxing and HIIT class’s for another fitness studio. It was in Dubai where he fell back on love with his practice on the mat and got back into his yoga practice full on and decided to go to Bali to do his 200hr YTT.

String completed his 200 hour YTT at the end of February 2020 and unbeknownst to him a few weeks later the world went on lockdown and his plan of 4 months in Bali turned into 2.5 years where he got to continue his journey learning and teaching yoga.

After his time is Bali String went on to guest teach indoor cycling in Sydney, Australia for 3 months, Brussels, Belgium for 3 months and back to Sydney for 4 months, String is now here in Palm Springs and is loving life here in the vibrant desert oasis of California where he teaches yoga to the seniors at the Mizell Center, the Center, and the Stonewall Gardens LGBT assisted living community.

String is also a massage therapist graduating from the Swedish Institute in 2012. String is also a foodie and loves to cook he is also a trained chef graduating from the Institute of Culinary Education in 2016.

Anye Elite: Moderator of Real Talk Real Health

Anye Elite, born Aigner Ellis, is a dynamic force in the realm of music, activism, and event production. Known for his vibrant contributions to Atlanta’s gay community, Anye’s influence spans across multiple platforms, including music, event hosting, and advocacy for the LGBT community.

Raised in Daytona Beach, Florida, Anye honed his artistic talents and emerged as a multifaceted hip-hop artist and outspoken LGBT activist. His music career began with the underground scene, where his debut single, “I Got Him,” set a lasting theme of same-sex love and advocacy. With subsequent hits like “Yass Lawt,” Anye solidified his status within the LGBT community and expanded his musical themes to include societal issues and spirituality, reflecting his growth as an artist.

Beyond music, Anye’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Icon City Entertainment, a content and event production company that has significantly impacted Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Southern California. Through Icon City News, Anye has provided a platform to spotlight important issues and emerging creatives, reinforcing his commitment to positive change.

Anye’s expertise in event production was particularly evident when he single-handedly saved the 2020 NYE fundraiser by orchestrating it online, handling talent booking, and volunteering his hosting services. This dedication extends to his role with Icon City, which has co-produced the last three Wellness Summit events in conjunction with the Brothers board, demonstrating his leadership and vision.

Now, as the moderator for the Real Talk Real Health event organized by Brothers of the Desert, Anye brings his unique blend of artistry, activism, and organizational skills to the forefront. His ability to engage audiences and foster meaningful dialogue makes him an invaluable asset to any event focused on wellness and community empowerment.

Anye Elite continues to inspire and influence, leveraging his diverse talents to advocate for inclusivity and drive impactful conversations. Whether through his music, his role as a marketing consultant, or his work in event production, Anye remains a changemaker dedicated to making a difference.
