DESCRIPTION:The InterArts Department at Idyllwild Arts is pleased to present a special collaboration between its students and UK-based interactive theatre company\, Stan’s Cafe. “Of All The People in All The World” is an internationally-acclaimed performance installation that turns abstract human population statistics into emotionally gripping stories using grains of rice. The public is invited to view Idyllwild Arts iteration “Of All The People in All The World” at a Celebratory Reception on Friday\, February 9 from 6 to 7.30pm\, featuring InterArts students and Stan’s Café founders\, James Yarker and Graeme Rose. The free event takes place at the Parks Exhibition Gallery located on Idyllwild Arts stunning campus (52500 Temecula Road #38\, Idyllwild\, CA). The unique exhibition will also run from February 6 – 14\, 2024. \nThe rice is carefully measured to represent human population statistics arranged in labelled piles\, creating an ever-changing landscape of rice. Originating from a single-family owner\, the artworks are from the largest private collection of Churchill’s paintings outside of the United Kingdom\, and have never been exhibited publicly. The general public knows less of Churchill as a painter than as one of the world’s greatest statesmen and Nobel Prize winning writer. His paintings played a critical role in his life\, offering another way to understand this towering figure. \n“Heather James is thrilled to present this superb selection of paintings by Winston Churchill\,” says Heather James Fine Art Co-Founder Jim Carona. “Not only was Churchill one of the greatest statesmen of the modern era\, but his personal foray into painting showcased his inner workings with resulting artworks that are technically adept and aesthetically beautiful. These works read like pages out of his diary\, mementos of the moments and places that were meaningful to one of the most important men of his day. We at Heather James have had the honor of working closely with Churchill’s family and his oeuvre in the past and consider his works a specialty of ours. It is a joy to be able to share these phenomenal examples.” \nThe paintings are on exhibit and offered for sale\, and include bold landscapes\, a vibrant still life\, and a quiet interior portrait. It was the Impressionist influence and his own pleasure that most likely made landscapes the genre of choice for Churchill. All festival week events are free and open to the public. \nIdyllwild Arts is an institution rooted in respect\, reverence\, and support for Native American people and is the only residential arts high school in the country to offer a Native American Arts program. To wrap up the week\, Welcoming Home the Birds & Native Arts Marketplace takes place on Friday\, June 21\, featuring hands-on activities for all ages\, Native Foods Taste Testing\, live cultural dances\, food trucks and more. The La Jolla Art & Wine Festival is also a destination where vino enthusiasts and craft beer lovers unite. The iconic wine and beer garden highlights over 35 international wineries\, local craft breweries\, and craft distilleries. DESCRIPTION:The highly anticipated PEREZ ART DISTRICT art walks return on the fourth Friday of every month from 4 to 7 PM beginning in September. The most exciting\, creative enclave in the Coachella Valley\, the district highlights over 50 established\, mid-career\, and emerging artists in their studios and galleries. Dubbed the “SoHo of the desert\,” the district’s high-quality art attracts collectors and art enthusiasts from around the world. Every month\, on 4th Fridays @4:00 visit the district for a festive art walk which is free and open to the public. Many studios are also open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. year-round. Now featuring over 50 artists in buildings A\, C\, H\, and I as well as home stores and galleries in the 68929 building\, The Perez Art District lets you pull back the curtain and peek into artist workspaces.

DESCRIPTION:“Res Basel” is the title of the latest show at Walter N. Marks gallery. The art venue at College of The Desert ( Palm Desert CA) is fast becoming one of the best places to see new works by emerging fine artists in the West Coast region. Res Basel is a overview and showcase of some of the most important current work from Native\, Chicano\, Latinx and street artists who blur lines between the fine art world and the street art world(s). \nThese artists all entrenched in the communities they represent in their work signify how important culture and sub-culture has become in creating cultural shifts\, showing how their fine has come to define new art movements. Curated by artist Douglas Miles Sr. \n\n\n(@dmiles1_apache) \, \nThe Res Basel show is an exhibition / commentary on how cultural elitism in the art world often silences artists by avoiding\, or refusing to show artists of color within the fine art industrial complex world of galleries\, museums\, online and print media. Thus the need for shows like Res Basel is expeditionary. In addition to an overview and survey of these artists. Res Basel is also one of the first times artists from the East Coast and West Coast  are showing together\, in conversation with one another.
