SUMMARY:Idyllwild Arts “Art in Society’s 7th Annual Symposium” Focuses on The Importance of Water
DESCRIPTION:On Monday\, April 15 Idyllwild Arts showcases their daylong Art in Society’s 7th Annual Symposium.  Free and open to the public\, the symposium will take place at the school’s stunning campus from 9am to 5pm (52500 Temecula Road #38\, Idyllwild\, CA). Illustrating the Citizen Artists that Idyllwild Arts educates\, this year’s event features collaborative works from all departments in which Arts and Academics will intertwine their perspectives on the historical\, literary and scientific significance of water\, from its impact on our lives to its powerful creative presence in all forms of art. \nThe topic is the intersectionality of all the different elements of water\, forming a larger tapestry based on what students learned from a fundraising campaign they undertook in fall 2023 with non-profit Gravity Water\, who support climate resilience and clean water access in developing nations. \nThe event will feature guest Lula Washington of the Lula Washington Dance Theater with dances based on portraying the rituals and movement created all over the world around water\, including rain dances. Representatives of Gravity Water will feature a presentation in honor of Art in Society’s first global campaign\, and the school’s support of a clean water filtration system for children and families in Vietnam. \nSeeking to ignite important dialogue\, there will be 6 student-focused works presented as collaborations between different departments These include exploring how water relates to both music and math\, an interactive installation intertwining film and environmental studies\, a performative activity representing the complex relationship between an individual community and its collection of water\, as well as visual works that symbolize the intrinsic link between art and water\, highlighting how both are essential components of human existence. For more information\, visit: https://idyllwildarts.org/event/art-in-society-symposium-2/

This free event takes place on the school’s stunning campus (52500 Temecula Road\, Idyllwild)\, providing visitors with an opportunity to learn about the school and different programs on offer\, which include dance\, music\, fashion\, film and visual arts. Student work will be showcased along with access to lectures\, demonstration classes\, and teacher introductions. The day will culminate in a student production of the musical\, CABARET followed by a late afternoon reception and auction. \nAs a featured part of the event\, Arts Enterprise Laboratory (AEL) senior student Devika Aggarwal will unveil her thought-provoking\, interactive and meticulously-engineered art installation “Outside In\,” a sphere-like\, geodesic dome structure. Made of burnt wood and steel\, the structure of “Outside In\,” features a door through which one can enter to view 35 original drawings contained within\, which represent a collection of real people’s stories and experiences. SUMMARY:CCHS Homecoming Parade & Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Cathedral City High School Homecoming Parade and Rally returns to Downtown Cathedral City on Thursday\, October 17th from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The parade route will mirror the route used last time in 2023 where it starts south of Perez Road on Cathedral Canyon Drive and continues south to Avenida Lalo Guerrero and turns left. Once on Avenida Lalo Guerrero\, the parade will end in front of City Hall for the Rally. \nOver the years\, the parade has featured football team\, marching band\, cheer leaders\, students nominated for Homecoming King and Queen\, various honor groups\, elected officials\, middle and elementary school students\, and more. \nAttendees should park in the City’s Parking Garage by entering from the east on Officer David Vasquez Road behind City Hall. From the parking garage\, you will be steps from the parade route and rally. \nDue to the parade\, motorists should be aware that Avenida Lalo Guerrero and Cathedral Canyon Drive between East Palm Canyon Drive (HWY 111) and Perez Road will be closed for safety from 3:00 pm to approximately 5:30 pm. Both East Palm Canyon Drive and Perez Road will remain open to traffic during the parade. Customers wanting to access businesses along the parade route will need to use secondary streets or be prepared to travel a moderate distance from their car to the business.
