DESCRIPTION:Idyllwild Arts Academy presents its Spring 2022 off-site student exhibition & reception\, catering to the Idyllwild Arts family of supporters in the Desert Cities. Following a hiatus during Covid-19\, the Idyllwild Arts Visual Arts students are excited to return to the desert and showcase their work\, marking the reintroduction of a special partnership with Melissa Morgan Fine Art Gallery\, which gives students a unique taste of what it’s like to take part in the professional world of fine art. The visual arts reception will be at Melissa Morgan Fine Art Gallery (73-660 El Paso\, Palm Desert\, CA 92260)\, a prestigious contemporary gallery in the heart of El Paseo\, on May 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. \nThe exhibition\, which is free and open to the public\, will run through May 7 and will feature the year’s best visual works from students of Idyllwild Arts Academy\, the pioneering arts high school that have been changing lives through the transformative power of art for over 70 years. \nCurated by Visual Arts Chair Linda Santana along with the Visual Arts faculty\, the exhibition showcases art from 28 artists in a variety of mediums\, including painting\, ceramics\, mixed-media\, sculpture\, drawing\, photography\, jewelry\, and printmaking. They chose 40 works as standout examples of the high level of creativity and technical accomplishment from artists in grades 9-12. The range of art speaks to the experiences of young visual artists in the 21st century with reflections on life\, friendships\, cultural mythologies\, and personal ethos. All art will be available for purchase to support the artists and Idyllwild Arts Academy. \nFollowing the reception\, a special rock concert by Idyllwild Arts Academy songwriting students will take place at the Melissa Morgan Sculpture Garden from 7 to 8 pm\, which is part of Melissa Morgan’s new concert series\, featuring trailblazing musicians. The band is led by senior songwriting major Gabi Gamberg will perform original songs.

We don’t focus on fastest times or competitions\, we focus on fun so be prepared to run\, walk\, crawl\, climb\, slide\, balance and laugh your way along our course for an amazing “girls dirty day out!” \nWe have no limits on the size of your team\, it can be as many Princesses as you can convince to join you for a day in the mud! Please don’t feel excluded if you are entering as an individual\, all of our Princesses are part of our Muddy Princess family and there will always be help and support to ensure everybody makes it over the obstacles and crosses the finish line at their own pace.  \nThe event venue opens at 8:00am for registration with the first wave starting at 9:00am and continuing every 15 minutes (9:00\, 9:15\, 9:30 etc) up until the last wave of the day. Please choose your preferred start time when choosing your ticket. PLEASE NOTE – for safety reasons\, each wave has limited numbers and once it is full there will be no additions allowed and no exceptions. \nSpectators are welcome at no additional fee so bring your husband\, kids and cheering squad. We have a Village where they can cheer you at the Start and celebrate you at the Finish Line. They can explore the food and drink stalls\, or sit and relax while they wait for you to have your fun in the mud. Please Note – We do not have a designated spectator zone along the course. Due to the different set ups at each venue\, we cannot specifically keep spectators off the course but\, we do ask that you respect the privacy of all our Princesses and please stay in the Village area while waiting for your Princess to return. \nWe have a Bag Drop ($5 on the day) where you can leave your stuff until you have completed the course. Parking will be $10 and VIP Parking is $20 (limited availability) \nThe minimum age for entry is 9 years young – but please\, Moms\, little Princesses (up to 13 years old) must be accompanied by a registered\, participating adult. Event waivers must be signed by a parent or legal guardian of all Princesses under the age of 18.
