Her professional singing career has evolved over the years and she is now recognized as one of the most talented vocalists of our time performing R&B\, Pop\, Soul\, Jazz\, Standards\, and more! \nTHE HISTORY \nI am a California native\, born and raised in Compton. My musical history stems back to the age of eight when my sisters and I had a pop singing group (The Jacksonics). What started out as a dare – from the local boys who initially had a song/dance group every summer- ended up with us being noticed at one of several Talent Shows we entered that summer. After being “discovered” we were given the opportunity of a lifetime by entering the world of entertainment. We then went from “The Jacksonics\,” to “The Jackson Sisters”. \nWe performed at places as small as nightclubs\, rapidly climbing the ladder to venues such as Mavericks Flat and then further still to The Fabulous Forum\, the Hollywood Palladium\, the Ahmanson Theatre and more. We appeared on television on Soul Train\, 90 Tonight (A special with Bob Bailey)\, A Couple of Dons (Don Rickles & Don Adams)\, telethons\, and more. \nWe were blessed to perform and tour with some of the greatest: Billy Paul\, Bill Cosby\, Eddie Kendricks\, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles\, Three Dog Night\, The Pointer Sisters\, The Whispers\, The Manhattans\, Sisters Sledge\, The Silvers\, and many more. During our short career\, we released an album and several single recordings including “Why Can’t We Be Just More Than Friends”\, “Boy\, You’re Dynamite”\, and “I Believe In Miracles” which landed on the Billboard charts and is still being heavily played in clubs in both Europe and Asia. Since as far back as 1990\, several CD’s & records/albums of “I Believe In Miracles” have been re-released and are being sold via the Internet. \nTHE HERE AND NOW \nSeptember 2001 launched the re-establishment of my career as a performer. Thus far I have completed five CDs and am currently working on number six. My nightly venues past and present are: The Riviera\, Palm Springs; Desert Springs Marriott Resort & Spa\, Palm Desert; The Hyatt Regency\, Palm Springs; Wang’s In The Desert\, Palm Springs; Legends\, Palm Springs; Azul\, Palm Springs; The Falls Steak House\, La Quinta and Palm Springs; Blame It on Midnight\, Palm Springs; Da Vinci’s\, Beverly Hills; Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa\, Rancho Mirage; Jazzy Accents\, Temecula; The St. Regis Resort & Spa\, Laguna Niguel; The Sunset Room\, Hacienda Heights; The Coachman Lounge\, Riverside; and a host of private/corporate affairs covering the West to the East coasts. \n\n\n\nTommy Dodson \nMusic has always been the central focus in my life. At 13\, I wrote “You Don’t Know How Much I Love You”. I recorded it with my local combo in a Kansas City recording studio\, putting it on my own label\, Dodson Records. \nHaving relocated to Los Angeles at age 17\, I signed a management contract with Mus-Art Corporation. Mus-Art was able to land a recording contract for me with Capitol Records. I recorded “Cooperate\,” and it was released on a subsidiary\, “Main Sound Records”. \nShortly after\, Mus-Art contracted me with the Las Vegas Revue “Funky Soul” as one of the headliners on their show. Once the show was over\, I returned to LA and started my studies at California State University\, majoring in music. \nAt age 18 I was drafted into the US Army and served a term in Viet Nam\, whereupon my contract option with Capitol ended due to the inability to perform live. While in the military\, I entertained often in the NCO Club on base. \nAfter an honorable discharge from the military\, I returned to Los Angeles and continued to entertain in local clubs and venues while resuming my studies at Cal State Los Angeles. \nAlong the way I developed an interest in nature photography\, with a special interest in macro photography. I studied under noted California photographers Dede Gilman and Ernie Braun. My photographs have been published through Unicorn Stock agency and have appeared in Better Homes and Gardens\, Guiding Light\, A Manual of California Vegetation\, Reader’s Digest\, and many more. \nI also worked as staff photographer with “Turning Point” magazine\, a local California publication featuring events and personalities in and about the Black community. \nFrom 1997 to 2001\, I entertained on Crystal Cruise lines traveling the world. In 1998 and 2000\, I did world cruises on the Crystal Symphony. \nI’ve composed the music for three musicals: Booze\, Blues\, and Attitude\, David and Jonathan\, and Playing the Game. \nIn 2014\, I relocated to the Palm Springs area where I continue to entertain at local musical venues. \nI was a 2014 finalist for the McCallum Theater’s annual review “Open Call”. I’ve written one novel\, Washed in the Blood\, and currently am working on my second one. \nI’ve recently begun creating monthly videos on YouTube entitled “From My Heart to You”. My purpose is to spread love through my voice and music. My lifelong motto has always been “Love is the answer”. \n\n\n\nHope Diamond \nHope Diamond has just hit the December issue of Palm Springs Life magazine for 2024.
