SUMMARY:Alex Mendham and his Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:Jazzville presents a stellar evening of vintage big band jazz with Alex Mendham and his Orchestra from the UK.\n\n\nOne of Jazzville’s most-anticipated shows this fall\, Alex Mendham and his Orchestra is coming from the U.K.! SUMMARY:Rumble King
DESCRIPTION:Rumble King LIVE in Palm Springs!\n\n\nRumble King is an American rock n roll band formed in Southern California in 1996. Lead by vocalist Aaron Deily and his acoustic piano\, Scott Ramirez on tenor saxophone\, Ulysses Gallegos on upright bass\, Corey Miller on drums\, and Johnny Main on Guitar. \nThe band established their place in music history during the rockabilly and swing revival of the late 90’s. Rooted in blues and early rock n roll\, this piano and sax driven quintet gained regional and then national attention with their original songs and unique approach to arranging\, recording\, and performing without a guitar. Prior to their first recording\, the band rehearsed with and wanted to include renowned blues singer and guitarist Johnny Main (The 44’s). Rumble King and The 44’s traveled on separate paths for almost two and half decades until circumstances and fate brought them full circle to the band’s current and originally intended line-up. \nAaron Deily has committed to performing on a genuine acoustic piano and continues to bring an upright piano to every show. The band’s determination to present their sound in a way that honors the roots that have proceeded them is uncompromising. \n Rumble King has released four LP’s\, three EP’s\, and dozens of singles. The band has worked with Director Lisa Haisha and made a cameo appearance in her 1999 short film “Taking the Plunge”. They’ve also helped Ostrich Film Colony Write and Produce their short film” I Still Adore You” which was loosely based off their lyrics and original song “I Still Adore You”\, both shorts went on to win Independent film festival awards. Rumble King has also worked with Custom Bike Builder Jesse James and made an appearance on Discovery Channel’s “Monster Garage episode. In 2009 Rumble King began working with Stan Freese talent casting and booking director for Disneyland and landed a 13 year residency at the historical Tommorowland Terrace and the Downtown Disney District. Rumble King has had stints at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas\, Viva Las Vegas Rock-a-Billy weekender\, and Hard Rock Cafe. \nRumble King also has opened for countless world renowned acts such as BB King\, Jackson Brown\, Chris Isaak\, James Brown\, Brian Setzer’s Orchestra\, Warren Zevon\, The Band and The Blasters.

SUMMARY:First Friday on Perez
DESCRIPTION:Desert Art Woman Gallery has mounted a thought provoking installation entitled Transience. It is a discussion of impermanence and change in our world. \nAs a society\, we struggle with fears of the dangerous natural\, political and emotional forces that rule our lives. Our anxieties about change and transient people are a given. Their lives untethered to people\, places\, or possessions are ones of impermanence. However\, transience is the most universal law of all phenomena. More precisely\, change is essential to existence. 4 artists have addressed that theme today. \nEnvironmental photographer Barbara Boissevain\, has presented images from her photographic series “The Trees Will Outlive Us\,”.  In this series she explores abandoned human structures as they decay and transform. The locations include: a family property in Long Island\, NY; a chateau in France; and a decommissioned coal factory in Germany. She documents a “post-apocalyptic sublime” future where human artifacts are the only remains of the Anthropocene. \nVisual Artist Emmanuel Doublin\, has addressed the lack of mental health care in our social system leaving the people who need it most in a constant state of fragility. Here for a moment\, their basic necessities are all held within a shopping cart appropriated from the nearest shopping outlet. Note that shopping cart theft carries a fine of $1000 which is only ever levied when a person is trying to live in one.  Interestingly\, the definition of transience in psychology is “the decreasing accessibility of memory over time” which may be an unconscious choice for the homeless after losing too many misunderstood battles. \nScreen Printer Christopher Stone\, has addressed the humanity of transience with screen prints representing the vertebrae. Though the subject matter of his work may vary\, color remains its constant theme. He manipulates color for its powerful symbolism\, boldness and the ability to communicate emotion. \nArtist Juliette Vos\, has created the human and plant figure installation around Manny’s work in an amalgam of Banksy and Kara Walker’s style lest we forget the living things. She has also created “Anthropocene” inspired by that which stays and that which does not. \nThe message is: appreciate the moment\, because the beauty experienced in it will never be the same.
