After completing a degree in jazz studies from the Oberlin Conservatory\, he moved to Los Angeles to receive a master’s degree in studio/jazz guitar from USC and began his career as a gigging musician. \n \nAs a sideman\, Jamey has performed and recorded with artists like Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons\, Matthew Morrison\, Smokey Robinson\, B. Slade\, Spencer Day\, Nigel Hall\, Taylor Dayne\, and Raquel Rodriguez. Jamey’s guitar playing can also be heard on the soundtracks for Netflix\, TBS\, and Comedy Central shows\, including Netflix’s original series Motown Magic\, where Jamey had the opportunity to record on songs performed by Smokey Robinson and Trombone Shorty. Jamey is also featured backing up Woody Harrelson on a cover of Elvis’ “Burning Love” from the Zombieland: Double Tap soundtrack. \n \nAn avid educator\, Jamey is an adjunct professor of commercial guitar at the Herb Alpert Music Center at Los Angeles City College\, teaches private lessons regularly\, and has appeared in dozens of lesson videos on the popular Pickup Music website. Jamey is also frequently hired to demonstrate guitar equipment from companies like Ernie Ball Music Man\, Heritage Guitars\, Harmony Guitars\, Orangewood Guitars\, Vertex Effects\, Shinos Amplifiers\, and A3 Stompbox. \n \nWith his debut EP\, The Back Burner\, Jamey steps into the spotlight as a solo artist with a guitar-driven blend of blues\, funk\, jazz\, and soul. Their core band will be joined by Joan and Gary Gand for a special\, one night only performance!   \n \nSoul singer/songwriter Earl Thomas has two Grammy nominations\, and four San Diego Music Awards. His songs have also been covered by Sir Tom Jones\, Will Wilde\, and Shemekia Copeland. Illustrating the Citizen Artists that Idyllwild Arts educates\, this year’s event features collaborative works from all departments in which Arts and Academics will intertwine their perspectives on the historical\, literary and scientific significance of water\, from its impact on our lives to its powerful creative presence in all forms of art. \nThe topic is the intersectionality of all the different elements of water\, forming a larger tapestry based on what students learned from a fundraising campaign they undertook in fall 2023 with non-profit Gravity Water\, who support climate resilience and clean water access in developing nations. \nThe event will feature guest Lula Washington of the Lula Washington Dance Theater with dances based on portraying the rituals and movement created all over the world around water\, including rain dances. DESCRIPTION:The Palm Springs Plaza Theatre supporters will have the opportunity to attend a fundraising event at an exclusive venue that houses more than 100 rare and vintage automobiles. Called ‘Drive the Plaza Theatre Into the Future\,’ the event will offer participants the opportunity to enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and live musical entertainment while viewing an amazing vintage auto collection owned by collector Brad Prescott. It will be held at The Prescott Collection Hangar in Palm Springs. Address will be provided when guests RSVP at https://tinyurl.com/CarHangar \nThe Prescott Collection celebrates the postwar American automobile. It comprises more than 100 automobiles\, ranging from award-winning restorations to extremely low mileage original examples. It includes renowned luxury marques such as Cadillac\, Lincoln and Packard as well as “orphan makes” including Nash\, Rambler and Studebaker. They are housed in a series of specially constructed hangars in Palm Springs. \nThe Foundation is continuing to raise funds to fully restore the Plaza Theatre\, one of the most iconic venues in Palm Springs. The Foundation has already raised more than $15M but must raise at least $10M more to cover the construction costs and contingencies plus startup expenses. These needed funds will help restore the building to its original splendor and update it to meet the access\, technology\, and equity needs of today and tomorrow. It is projected that the restoration work will take approximately eighteen months to complete\, allowing the Plaza Theatre to open in 2025.
