DESCRIPTION:The Walter N. Marks Center for the Arts is proud to present two new exhibitions this month. \nThe Other Side of Memory features photographs by Luis C. Garza\, featuring images that document the Chicano photographer’s East Los Angeles community during the early 1970s\, his South Bronx neighborhood during the 1960s\, and his 1971 travels to Budapest\, Hungary\, for the World Peace Conference where he met Mexican muralist David Alfaro Siqueiros. \nXicano Topography features an eclectic selection of Chicano artists are denizens of an expansive Xicano landscape. The artists deal with the universality of the human condition but through the lens of their Mexican-American experience. They do not employ the expected or popular visual cues. Together they draw from a deep well of influences in the American roots rhythm and blues genres.  \nMembers of the band were first call musicians for the late blues legend James Harman. They also regularly back up blues legends Kim Wilson of the Fabulous Thunderbirds\, as well as Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers.
